The only one of its kind in North America, the Hôtel de Glace (Ice Hotel) changes theme each winter to the delight of locals and tourists alike. Fascinating art and winter splendor greet you upon your arrival at the Grand Hall. You'll be awestruck by the hotel's theme rooms and suites which are decorated with majestic sculptures. Make sure to stop by our beautiful chapel, where people from all over the world are immediately amazed at its magical ambiance.

There’s a long history of celebrations spanning from late January to mid-February in Quebec City. In the worldwide capital of snow, the first large-scale winter carnival took place in 1894 and became the largest winter Carnival in the world.  During 10 days, beginning of February, the Carnaval de Québec celebrates winter and Quebeccers "joie de vivre". It proposes over 200 activities and welcomes more than 500 000 people.

Winter Carnival full VIP Pass:

The Pass includes:

  • 1 Effigy
  • 1 Carnival tuque
  • 1 Caribou or non-alcoholic drink
  • 1 Stick of maple taffy
  • 1 Coffee or hot chocolate

Since 1955, the Effigy has been on the Quebec Winter Carnival’s main sources of funding. It is required to access most of our sites and activities. Each year, a new Effigy to the likeness of Bonhomme Carnaval is created to be worn as a pendent on your coat throughout the event.

Visitors 8 years old or older must wear the Effigy to access Carnival sites.
